Nanjing Medical University Clinical Medicine Research Center for Oral Diseases

Approved for construction in July 2023 and relying on the overall advantages of medical care, teaching, and research of the Affiliated Stomatology Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, the center focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases, aiming to become a leading domestic and internationally advanced base for oral disease prevention and control. With clinical application transformation at its core and supported by medical big data and biorepositories, the center has established a three-level collaborative innovation platform for clinical research, including central, sub-central, and network units. It actively conducts multi-center clinical studies domestically and internationally, improves clinical pathways and technical standards for oral disease prevention and control, compiles a series of guidelines for oral disease diagnosis and treatment, and expert consensus documents. It also organizes and guides clinical applications and promotes appropriate technologies to the grassroots level.

The center currently features four major research and development platforms: oral tissue engineering and regeneration, digital diagnostic and treatment technologies for dentofacial conditions, oral biomaterials engineering technologies, and evaluation and clinical trials of oral diagnostic and treatment technologies. The total value of its equipment reaches 34.271 million yuan. Committed to advancing the research and industrialization of key materials, technologies, and equipment related to oral clinical needs, the center has successfully transformed 12 outcomes, generating a production value of 2.326 million yuan. In the future, the center will enhance its overall layout, optimize resource allocation, refine operational management systems and mechanisms, and build a closely connected, smoothly converting, collaboratively integrated, and grassroots-serving system for oral medicine technological innovation. This will accelerate innovation breakthroughs and the popularization of advancements in the field of oral medicine.
