Launched in 2023, by concentrating personnel, space, and equipment, optimizing the treatment process, and enriching technical approaches, the center aims to create a safe, pain-free, and comfortable treatment experience for patients under the leadership of the anesthesiology department, eliminating medical safety risks.
To alleviate patients' anxiety during dental visits and enhance comfort during treatment, our hospital has continuously introduced and developed oral comfort care technologies over the years. In 2009, pain-free anesthesia injection techniques were actively promoted; in 2012, nitrous oxide sedation technology was introduced for the first time; and in 2014, our hospital became the first in the province to conduct outpatient general anesthesia for dental treatment, significantly advancing solutions for dental treatment challenges in children, dental phobia patients, and patients with systemic diseases. To date, over 23,000 patients have received comfort care treatments, markedly improving the quality of medical services. During this period, the hospital undertook the task of designated oral treatment for disabled children in orphanages under the "Tomorrow Plan" commissioned by the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and hosted the Chinese Stomatological Association's project "Caring for the Oral Health of Autistic Children." Building on this foundation, our hospital established the first nitrous oxide sedation dental treatment training center in East China and received the Jiangsu Provincial Medical New Technology Introduction Award.
Outpatient comfort care is primarily applicable to the following groups and scenarios:
Patients with fear and anxiety about dental treatment: Comfort care can alleviate fear and anxiety, enabling pain-free dental treatment and preventing psychological trauma.
Patients requiring dental treatment but with severe underlying conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease): Comfort care ensures safety during treatment and enhances patient comfort.
Special populations with oral diseases (e.g., autism, cerebral palsy, dementia): These patients often cannot cooperate with dental treatment. Comfort care can improve compliance and facilitate smooth dental procedures.
The center aims to contribute to building a "tear-free, pain-free, warm" dental hospital, offering comfort care services to optimize patient experience and make dental visits less daunting.
